MODEL DEVELOPMENT 4 - PAPER FOLDING PAVILION (Scale 1:10)

Paper Pavilion Model (Scale 1:10)

I returned to the X-form spans because of its immense flexibility, eager to learn more of how I could create form and space in my models.

I decided to fold my model in a different area to the previous to uncover more results that could vary from my previous experiment.

I cut holes into the x form spans shape to experiment with the light access in the form.

I had originally intended this form to be the base of the structure much like the first model, but flipping it upside down gave me the idea to make it a pavilion.

I had folded some components of the model inwards and used to rolled up paper pillars to prop up the pavilion on top of two masu boxes which formed the base.

Additional pillars were added to help with structural integrity.

People were important to how this space would be used...

...so stairs were added and modelled so that people could access the pavilion room model.
